Brand new pop music – Dale McKay EP ‘Here and Now’ coming Sept 16th

There are already many people who have come across up and coming pop songwriter Dale McKay, but for the uninitiated now is the perfect time to discover him. Having already been talked up locally and nationally by BBC Introducing, his new EP ‘Here and Now’ hits the shelves (figuratively speaking) on September 16th.

With an acoustic foundation which expands into classy, catchy, song-writerly pop, his sound is immediately accessible and packed with relatable lyrics. ‘Make You Happy’ (above) is taken from the EP and gives a glimpse as to what you can expect.

‘Burning’ single by Shadowqueen – out now!

Written for fans of rock with a touch of subtlety, the new single from Australian band Shadowqueen is a shock to the system, but in a good way.

There’s no point even trying to convince people who ‘don’t like heavy rock’ that this is worth listening to, but if people disregard it based on genre, they’re missing out. The musicality, from the verse basslines to the tight structures, is really strong here.

It helps that the production is so excellent too. Often, rock recordings lack some of the energy that you imagine comes across on stage, but not in this case. There are slight moments of distortion that mark out the fuller sections, giving extra leverage to the moments that aren’t so big. Nicely done.

The Novatones Set to Release New Material

Southampton’s very own indie four piece The Novatones are set to release their eagerly anticipated new EP ‘Sunday Romance’ on the 20th September.

Fresh from their well-received performance at this year’s Isle of White Festival, the boys entered the studio to get their latest offering ready for the waiting public.

Previous releases ‘For Monies Sake’ and ‘Begging at the Bunhouse’ have seen, Anthony Pittman (Guitar and Lead Vocals), Sean Swift (Drums and Percussion) Mackenzie Gordon-Smith (Guitar and Backing Vocals) and Toby Hornby-Patterson (Bass and Backing Vocals), develop a growing fan base that is starting to spread far beyond their south coast home.

The video for the wonderfully catchy ‘Living for the Weekend’ has gained some impressive numbers on YouTube and shows the band at their playful best. Jangling indie pop guitars and a chorus that hooks you right into the weekend, make this tune a growing indie staple.

The more melodic ‘Avenue Road’ shows a more sensitive side to the band with its heartfelt lyrics and gentler sound.

The Novatones impressive back catalogue shows a band that are continually growing musically and the new EP will see the further development of a band at the top of its game.

August will see the release of some tasters from the new EP but at the moment you can check out what the band have been up to so far here.
