With a new EP out next week (25th November), Magazine Gap are a trio with a plan. First, they have established their credentials as a top notch funk-soul band with previous singles ‘What’s That About?’ and ‘Body Language’. And now, with the EP very close on the horizon, they have released the video for the excellent title track ‘Calling Card’.
Carrying on their trend of well written and produced tracks full of verve and energy, ‘Calling Card’ once again shows why Magazine Gap’s decision to ride the funk wagon was a good one. Clearly all experienced musicians in their own right, the three members knit together to form a tight package which really complements their genre. Solid pop fare from a young hopeful on the rise, ‘Something More’ is the new single from the excellent Luke Potter. Out today, the track brings together excellent production values, a laid back rhythm and a searing chorus to top, catchy effect.

A hugely talented multi-instrumentalist who has already worked with the likes of Gary Barlow, Olly Murs and more, Max Restaino is that rare thing – an independent singer-songwriter with a real, solid chance of breaking into the music industry mainstream.
With a sound not dissimilar to the previously mentioned Murs, his is an accessible pop style backed by clear song writing talent and a solid band to back him up. That band have recently been impressing new audiences in support of Rebecca Ferguson’s national tour, and will no doubt have won over plenty of new fans – just in time for new album ‘The Time it Takes’
With a beautiful voice complimented by the light touch of piano and acoustic guitar, Ellie Jane shines on new single ‘Clocks’. Jane is one of the most highly thought of independent song writers in the UK at the moment, feeding off the good buzz she received when reaching the final of the national UK Open Mic competition.
And now, with this single and six song EP it promotes, she is taking a further step towards gaining the recognition she deserves. Far from being a cookie cutter pop princess, this is a writer of original songs with influences from far outside the pop genre.
It makes for an interesting cocktail, which should be enjoyed in full by finding the EP on iTunes.
